Blogg 09/08/2012 No energy to blogg…

 

Weather - drought continues. There is a burn ban here but a fire almost every day. Today one got very near a small town near here. Could have been tragic. Glad it was not.

I have no energy to blogg. Far too stressed. We are now hauling water to our cattle. There is not enough grass growing so we still have to feed them. Without rain, is there any use to planting wheat this autumn? And the scary thing is, this is probably our new norm. I do not like it.

Blogg 26/05/2012 Hot days…

 

 

Weather has been awful. High high winds and hot temps. Today in Salina it hit 100F.

 

Willie and our hired man have worked on our combines all week. It did not go well. Cut our first load of wheat late this afternoon. I guess our helper is NOT taking a vacation this year to help us. He will be around on his days off but that is it. My stress level just took a giant leap. I am sure his stress is much worse but he won’t talk about it. I have tried. We used to be a family farm but no longer. It is just him and me. No one to help, no one for backup. It drives me nuts. And as we get older, it is a big worry. But we will do what we can and have learned to survive without asking or expecting help.

Family reunion tomorrow. Wish I could skip it but since I am the president, I must be there. The cousin I like to sit with has decided not to attend and now my brother is not going. My son, husband or any other one close to me all refuse to go. But there will be great family from far away and lots of good food. Be glad when it is over.

Really should not be blogging when I am not feeling good. I will end with some photos from the past week.

Blogg 02/03/2012 Swedish group, banking…

 

Weather remains too warm. It was almost 70F yesterday. Today we are only 50F. Of course, we have had no rain. We were supposed to today but it was sunny!! Had a little wind that was a bit chilly.

 

Yesterday I met Janet, Beth, and Marian at Moka’s for lunch. And hours of talking!! Had so much fun!! I am lucky to have such good friends and we are lucky there is such a wonderful place as Moka’s.

 

Today was my Swedish group in Lindsborg. There was only 8 of us there. So sad. We met at the local library. I love meeting there. Easy day for me. No coffee to fix. We looked at some old books, photos of a friend who lives in Ecuador, and we reviewed some Swedish words that were part of a book we are reading. A fun get-together.

 

I took myself out to lunch at Jalisco’s, but I had no appetite. Not sure why. Then I drove to Jerry Ivey Park in Salina. I took photos of the ducks and geese. Then I read for a while. Then I had an app’t at First Bank Kansas. I am closing a bank acc’t and changing to First Bank. My present bank charges me if I use the drive through or go in to the teller. Ridiculous. Plus the First Bank is who does the bus trips I go on.

Blogg 02/02/2012 Quiet week, soon rain…

 

 

Weather has stayed warm but there is a blizzard warning for tonite and tomorrow for NW Kansas. We might get rain here but not holding my breath. Schools are already cancelled for tomorrow out west. According to the radar, there is rain here now. Must not be hitting the ground.

 

Tuesday afternoon I had acupuncture in McPherson at Healthy Lifestyle. Lord, I needed it. My back hurts constantly. Hard to even turn over in bed. Dr. Tina did some different needles. Helped a bit. Will return in 2 weeks. This cannot continue. On top of this Willie is worse than me. He gets a cramp in his thigh/hip. Then he can hardly move or sit. He finally called his chiropractor. Finally. I am worried that it will just get worse and then what? There is no family to help him, maybe our nephew. But we cannot impose on anyone. More stress. Never ending.

 

After my appointment I went to Lakeside Park. No one else was there so I sat wherever I wanted. And the geese were nearby. Took lots of photos. I love it there. Very relaxing, a rather zen time. Should go there more often.

 

Tuesday nite Messiah Chorus rehearsals began. I have not sang since 2009. I just could not sing after Mom died. She sang for 63 years. One of the longest singing members. But my emotions are better this year. This is my 20th year. My back about killed me but so be it. I have missed singing. And thinking of Mom was ok, even good. I did lots of acupressure and that helped my back a bit. Will start before the next rehearsal.
