Weather has been great. Cool, cloudy, no wind. And tonite we had rain. A heavy downpour for a while. Love it. Hope more develops overnite.

 

 

This morning was my Swedish group in Lindsborg. We had a program about the Bohuslän area. Very interesting. Not many there but that is ok. We had fun. Those that missed, their loss.

 

 

I took myself out to eat at Jalisco’s, Third time this week. I love the food but really love the people. They are just very nice to me. Need that sometimes.

Sort of dreading the weekend. Working both days at the Red Barn Studio in Lindsborg. Hoping for a very very quiet weekend. Sunday is Mother’s Day in the US. No celebration this weekend for me. And no lunch out. Probably won’t eat out sunday evening either. Oh well. It will be fine.

I stopped on Coronado Heights to take photos on the way home. The yucca plants were blooming. Very cool to see. And a few other wild flowers also. And then my camera’s batteries died. Again. Will go back soon!

Blogg 23/04/2012 Jalisco’s, friends, Coronado Hts, memories…

 

 

Weather has beautiful!!! Mild and even cool at nite. But it is to change for the next 2 days. Summer warm. Ick and double ick. Supposed to be 90F. But then cooler for a couple of days and rain. That will be better.

 

Today I met Sally, Richea and Maxxum for lunch. Of course, we ate at Jalisco’s. I even stepped out of the box and ordered something totally new. I usually get Arroz con pollo. But today I tried La Favorita. It was pretty good. A nice lunch. It is Richea’s last ‘free’ week. She returns to work next monday. Decided we need to meet another day this week also. (-;

 

On the way home, I drove up to Coronado Heights. Gorgeous views from the top. There was another car up top but I saw no one. I did not get out of my car. I trust no one. I wanted to walk about but not when I am there alone. I took a few photos.

 

Then I drove around the Smoky Hill Cemetery. The peonies are blooming. And a few irises. It was lovely and quiet. I love being there. Restores my soul.

 

 

 

At home things fell apart. Today was the birthday of someone very special to me. She passed this last year. I just cannot stop crying. I wish I could go back and have a redo but that is not possible. And I hope she knows how much I loved her. Things move forward. And life……well, it is what it is.

 

Watching Two and a Half Men. I just love Ashton Kutcher. He is adorable. Episode had him playing with a little girl. So cute. I have a friend that looks just like him. Rather cool.

Blogg 30/03/2012 Futbol, art, Swedish group, mojito…

 

Weather is just too warm. The house is too warm. The A/C needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, that is not my decision or right or privilege to do that. So, I suffer. There has been rain in the state, but nary a drop near my farm. What else is new?

 

Everything blooming is about a month early. Our wheat is headed out. IF we get a freeze in april, our crop is cooked. And that could happen. Time will tell.

 

Wednesday I had acupuncture. She did the normal needles. I have no idea what has changed but my back pain is a bit less. I have done nothing different. I am not pain free, but better. Hmmm.

 

Today was my Svenska Vänskapsgruppen, Swedish Friendship Group. Actually had a nice group. I had bought a 1900 Messiah poster/article. I brought it and read the text then passed it around for the group to see the photos. It sparked so many memories of Messiah festivals of the past. So much history and so many memories. This was Alf and Maud Brorson’s last meeting with us. Oh, how I will miss them. They leave the monday after Easter. Alf told us about Påsk – Easter – in Sweden. Wish I was there. I always wish that.

 

I took myself out to lunch at Jalisco’s. I surprised Eric there by learning a new phrase all by myself. ‘Muy sabroso’. That means ‘very tasty’. Francisco and I had a fun talk about futbol!! Finally. Someone I can chat with about futbol!!! Most people around here have no idea there is such a thing or any of the players. The waiters from Jaslico’s play futbol every sunday afternoon. After Easter, I am going to watch me my first live futbol match!!!!

 

This afternoon I worked at Lindsborg Collects. My last time. It was fairly slow. My friend Naomi came in to chat a bit. Good to see her!!!

 

Came home tonite and had a mojito. Ended the day just right!!!

Blogg 17/03/2012 …Heat, work, Swedes

 

Weather remains too warm. We have flowers and weeds blooming. Flies are buzzing. I saw my first wildflower in my driveway. That is all nice BUT…..it is still winter. WINTER. And we cannot get a drop of rain here to save our life. And today we had our usual gale force winds. Will they ever quit?

 

Friday was my Swedish group. And we had special guests. Alf and Maud Brorson are here from Sweden for a month. Maud is the artist in residence at the Red Barn Studio in Lindsborg. She is a textile artist. Great to see them.

 

I took myself out to eat at Jalisco’s. I am getting soo used to eating alone. Hardly bothers me at all. But then the wait staff at Jalisco’s are more friends than workers. They all joke with me, see if I am doing ok, and take good care of me.

 

I volunteered again friday afternoon at Lindsborg Collects. That is an art show of art from private collections. The owner must live in Lindsborg and the artists must be from Lindsborg. A great variety of great art. Had fun people visit.

 

I met my friend Mary after working. We prefer to meet over a glass of wine, but…. There no longer is a place to go for wine. Where we went has closed. Still have the local bar, but there are too many people there. So it was back to Jalisco’s. We get good care and no one cares what we are talking about. Had a great visit!!! Rehashed old news and shared new news. Must meet more often.

Worked today. I only gave 2 tours but there was lots of comings and goings all afternoon. I did get to chat off and on with Maud and Alf. And for a while after work. I love having them here!!! I have several things of hers I am going to buy.

 

Called my friend Bill tonite. Was hoping we could meet for lunch tomorrow. Not this week. No lunch for me tomorrow. Could go alone, but I guess not.

Blogg 20/01/2012 Good day…

Weather is really really cold again. In the teens at nite. I almost roll myself up like a mummy at nite to get warm. But much better than being too warm. Of course, no rain or snow. Nary a chance. Very sad. Today was cloudy most of the day.

Swedish Group today in Lindsborg at the Bethany Lutheran Church. Had a couple of members who had been gone for a while. Good to see them. And we got to sing Du gamla, du fria with piano!! That has not happened for a long time! Our program was to watch a video about Birger Sandzén. Very good!! Lots of old photos of where he lived in Sweden and of his family. We got about half of it watched. Will finish the next week.

I met Sally for lunch at Jalisco’s after group. Had my usual Arroz con pollo!!! With a dieta. And the key word there was frio!!! Mucho frio!!! Great good. Better visit.

I made a quick stop in the White Peacock before going home. Got an ice tea. AND. A new painting. It is awesome and I love it!! Painted by Jackie who is part owner. I had a painting there picked out and then I saw this one. Now it is mine. MINE!!!!

Stupid Word Press deactivated my blog yesterday for violation of their TOS. I emailed them but no answer yet. Now I don’t care. Have switched it to another site. Screw ‘em. I like to link to places I got whether a town, state, business, or whatever. Someone reading in France my have no idea what say Walgreen’s is. I am not advertising for them or anything but I think WP thought so. Well, if my life violates them, I will stay away.

Trying --- TRYING --- to watch American Idol. What a challenge. It started with some kind of scraping sound instead of sound. Then I got sound but the picture was black. Then the screen turned bright yellow. Then normal then black and then yellow. See how long the normal lasts now. Not my tv. This channel frequently turns yellow. Well, it is Fox so who knows.
