Blogg 17/06/2012 Busy times, rain, turning hot…

 

 

Weather has been nice but it is ending. We had 2.5” of rain the last 2 days. Today was 90s and humid. Tomorrow is to be over 100. Ick.

 

I worked extra time on saturday. Lindsborg celebrated Midsommarsdag that day. We were supposed to have dancing on our front lawn, but they got moved elsewhere. We had lots of people come in though. The celebration used to be in one of our parks. And they are both HOT with no air moving even if there is a breeze. And it cost to get in. This year the celebration was downtown. It was free. There were booths and people showing how to do things like make Swedish pancakes. I heard that the crowd was good and many people were going in the shops. Before the downtown was totally left out. I think it was well done and a success.

 

After work I went to Elly’s for her birthday celebration. She had a great crowd. I think 60 showed up. She had it on her deck and yard.

 

Today was Father’s Day here in the US. It was just going to be Willie & I. No family celebration. Sally invited us to join there celebration at the Brookville Hotel for chicken. A nice gathering. We enjoyed it. It must be hard for Willie though. There are those who think he could not care less about being remembered for holidays, etc. but they are wrong. He has talked to me about how much it hurts. Wish I could fix things. When I try, I fail. Tonite I am sooo anxious. Will have to take a pill soon.

 

Late this afternoon there was a Midsummer church service at Bethany Lutheran Church. It is all in Swedish. Had a nice crowd. And we sang at least 3 of my fave Swedish hymns. I loved it. My singing Swedish is my best Swedish.

Blogg 23/04/2012 Jalisco’s, friends, Coronado Hts, memories…

 

 

Weather has beautiful!!! Mild and even cool at nite. But it is to change for the next 2 days. Summer warm. Ick and double ick. Supposed to be 90F. But then cooler for a couple of days and rain. That will be better.

 

Today I met Sally, Richea and Maxxum for lunch. Of course, we ate at Jalisco’s. I even stepped out of the box and ordered something totally new. I usually get Arroz con pollo. But today I tried La Favorita. It was pretty good. A nice lunch. It is Richea’s last ‘free’ week. She returns to work next monday. Decided we need to meet another day this week also. (-;

 

On the way home, I drove up to Coronado Heights. Gorgeous views from the top. There was another car up top but I saw no one. I did not get out of my car. I trust no one. I wanted to walk about but not when I am there alone. I took a few photos.

 

Then I drove around the Smoky Hill Cemetery. The peonies are blooming. And a few irises. It was lovely and quiet. I love being there. Restores my soul.

 

 

 

At home things fell apart. Today was the birthday of someone very special to me. She passed this last year. I just cannot stop crying. I wish I could go back and have a redo but that is not possible. And I hope she knows how much I loved her. Things move forward. And life……well, it is what it is.

 

Watching Two and a Half Men. I just love Ashton Kutcher. He is adorable. Episode had him playing with a little girl. So cute. I have a friend that looks just like him. Rather cool.

Blogg 27/01/2012 Busy friday…

 

 

Weather turned really windy this afternoon just like we were warned it would. Not real cold out though but felt rather cold. Still a desert here.

 

Had my Swedish group this morning in Lindsborg at the Bethany Lutheran Church. I was sooo surprised when I got there that this week’s hostess already had the coffee made and the table set. Wow. No one ever does that!! How very nice. And then she got up a bit early at the end of the program, and cleaned all the kitchen/table/coffee pots up. Very very nice. She made my day!

 

I met Paul and Sally at Pizza Hut. They are getting new kitchen floor and new carpeting. How lucky. I can only dream. Our carpet is ruined because of our dog but no chance of getting it changed. I cannot have anyone come over here. No family get togethers here ever again. I am just too embarrassed. And I am not allowed to do anything on my own to make our lives better. It is soo hard to watch everyone else I know get new homes or get to remodel the home they live in. And they all have actual houses. It is not nice to be jealous but hard not to be. Oh well. Too late for me. I am glad my friends are lucky.

 

I had some shopping to do in McPherson. Had trouble finding what I wanted but finally did. Then I went to Lakeside Park. Hoping to take photos of geese, but none in the water. All too far away.

 

Took a nap this afternoon and woke up with my acid reflux in full swing. Felt awful. Took a couple of pills and now ok.

Blogg 22/01/2012 Snow…

 

 

Weather stays quite cool and tonite we have SNOW!!! Real snow!!! I went out in it for a bit. Have to enjoy it while I can since our drought is to only get worse. Has very strong winds over nite and this morning.

 

I worked yesterday. I had 4 people come in but not for tours. Nothing to do with me. It was nice to have some action in the studio but still had a boring day.

 

Last nite we went to Marquette for steak nite. Been a long time. The bar has been closed. Could not sell it so it is open again. Best steaks in the world. The salad with it sort of sucks, just lettuce. I forgot to bring my own dressing and a baggie full of crouton, dried cranberries, feta cheese, etc. Now that is a salad!!

 

Met Sally, Paul, and Kenny at Pizza Hut for lunch today. Easy to eat there when I have to work. Nice to visit.

 

Worked again at the Red Barn in Lindsborg. It was beyond boring. Not one person came in. The artist left as soon as I got there. He will be back tuesday. Boring. And caught up on my computer work. Did I say it was boring.

 

NOT a good day for me. The pilot light on our heating/ac unit went out last nite. It will not relight. We have no heat except for out portable heaters. We had trouble all last summer with it. And now we are having trouble in the winter. It is older than dirt. Literally. There is a simple solution but….. I have no say. My stress level is again through the roof. Repair guy will be here early monday morning. Very frustrating. Sort of feel I have no where to turn. No can understand and no one cares, so I will quite whinging.

Blogg 20/01/2012 Good day…

Weather is really really cold again. In the teens at nite. I almost roll myself up like a mummy at nite to get warm. But much better than being too warm. Of course, no rain or snow. Nary a chance. Very sad. Today was cloudy most of the day.

Swedish Group today in Lindsborg at the Bethany Lutheran Church. Had a couple of members who had been gone for a while. Good to see them. And we got to sing Du gamla, du fria with piano!! That has not happened for a long time! Our program was to watch a video about Birger Sandzén. Very good!! Lots of old photos of where he lived in Sweden and of his family. We got about half of it watched. Will finish the next week.

I met Sally for lunch at Jalisco’s after group. Had my usual Arroz con pollo!!! With a dieta. And the key word there was frio!!! Mucho frio!!! Great good. Better visit.

I made a quick stop in the White Peacock before going home. Got an ice tea. AND. A new painting. It is awesome and I love it!! Painted by Jackie who is part owner. I had a painting there picked out and then I saw this one. Now it is mine. MINE!!!!

Stupid Word Press deactivated my blog yesterday for violation of their TOS. I emailed them but no answer yet. Now I don’t care. Have switched it to another site. Screw ‘em. I like to link to places I got whether a town, state, business, or whatever. Someone reading in France my have no idea what say Walgreen’s is. I am not advertising for them or anything but I think WP thought so. Well, if my life violates them, I will stay away.

Trying --- TRYING --- to watch American Idol. What a challenge. It started with some kind of scraping sound instead of sound. Then I got sound but the picture was black. Then the screen turned bright yellow. Then normal then black and then yellow. See how long the normal lasts now. Not my tv. This channel frequently turns yellow. Well, it is Fox so who knows.
