Weather is getting hotter again. And again. Usch. Hit 100F today. For joy. Willie burned the last 2 of our wheat fields. Glad he is done. A big worry for me.

Today was my granddaughter Ashley’s birthday. So I took her and Chris out to lunch. They picked Martinelli’s in Salina. It is a great Italian place. Mmmm. Then we went to the mall. I bought Chris some new shoes and I bought Ashley a new jacket and tank top. I saw several shoes that I wanted but really did not want to pay that much. Will probably go back later and get them!!!

 

Came home and took a short nap. Couldn’t get comfy then Willie came home. Sigh……

 

Busy weekend coming up. Gone all day tomorrow, work day on saturday, and sunday should be ok. Just lunch out. Oh well, better than sitting around.

 

The Cook’s Paint sign above was in my relative’s store. I am related to the Train Bros. They had a furniture store, funeral home, carriage shop, and radio repair shop. Many years ago.

Blogg 11/07/2012 Fun times…

 

Weather is getting hotter again. This weekend it is back to the 100s. Took a drive with friends and it is heartbreaking to see the dead and dried up corn fields, dried up ponds, scorched earth. And we are doing nothing to save our environment. Sad and scary. We got 2 wheat fields burned today and one yesterday. As dry as it is, it is scary.

On tuesday I went on a road trip with 3 friends. Two of them were extras when the movie Picnic was filmed here in Kansas. So we visited all the places it was filmed in. We went to Nickerson, Halstead, and Sterling. We had lunch in Yoder at an Amish restaurant that is beyond great. And about 15 kinds of pie to choose from. Then back to Lindsborg for a stop at the Öl Stuga for some cold drinks. It was a perfect day!!!! Great to have one of those.

 

Today I decided just to be lazy. And did a fair job!! I skipped the knitting café I usually go to. Just tired. Then I got an invite to the White Peacock for tea. Could not say no to that. Nice to be there and to have a great visit.

  The rest of the day I did a little housework and chatted with a friend on FaceBook. He is a new friend there. And amazed he asked to be my friend. But I am usually amazed when someone asks!! Just me!! Fun chatting!!

Tomorrow I am going out to lunch with the grandkids. Was Chris’ birthday and tomorrow is Ashley’s birthday. Be great to be with both of them again!!!

Blogg 5/07/2012 Heat and more…

Weather continues really bad. Everyday is over 100F. And no rain. There is rain in other nearby states but none here. Like Kansas has a wall around it.

  

Have not blogged in a while. Had a very upsetting event happen last week. Totally through me for a loop. Totally unexpected. I have just sort of withdrawn. No wants to hear me whine and most don't care. Will blogg when I feel better. Today, just sharing some photos.

Blogg 21/06/2012 Pleasant day…

 

 

Weather was great today!!! We actually got 1” of rain last nite. A bunch of small storms all bunched together. I went to bed with thunder, lightning, and rain. Today it never got to 90F. The next 10 days are hot and dry. Hope that changes.

 

I took Elly to Applebee’s for a birthday dinner for her. Good food and better visit. While we were eating a large number of families came in and they all had service dogs with them. The dogs are trained in Concordia KS. The kids are supposed to 13 yrs. old to get a dog but the little boy who sat near us in only 10 yrs. old. Got an order from his doctor. Most of the dogs were labs but two were similar to St. Bernards. They were gorgeous. The little boy next to us had a Border Collie. For more info about the dogs, read here.

 

 

After lunch I did some shopping at Target. They used to have decent clothing but they do not even have a simple pair of black slacks. Why even look there? They have thousands of outfits for teens but not much else.

 

 

I went to Marquette to deliver a new phone to Chris. He was jogging and his phone flew out of his pocket. The whole phone was full of cracks. The slide show above is photos I took there today. And they are all taken with my new iPhone 4S. Takes awesome photos. Even HDR photos. Cool!

Blogg 17/06/2012 Busy times, rain, turning hot…

 

 

Weather has been nice but it is ending. We had 2.5” of rain the last 2 days. Today was 90s and humid. Tomorrow is to be over 100. Ick.

 

I worked extra time on saturday. Lindsborg celebrated Midsommarsdag that day. We were supposed to have dancing on our front lawn, but they got moved elsewhere. We had lots of people come in though. The celebration used to be in one of our parks. And they are both HOT with no air moving even if there is a breeze. And it cost to get in. This year the celebration was downtown. It was free. There were booths and people showing how to do things like make Swedish pancakes. I heard that the crowd was good and many people were going in the shops. Before the downtown was totally left out. I think it was well done and a success.

 

After work I went to Elly’s for her birthday celebration. She had a great crowd. I think 60 showed up. She had it on her deck and yard.

 

Today was Father’s Day here in the US. It was just going to be Willie & I. No family celebration. Sally invited us to join there celebration at the Brookville Hotel for chicken. A nice gathering. We enjoyed it. It must be hard for Willie though. There are those who think he could not care less about being remembered for holidays, etc. but they are wrong. He has talked to me about how much it hurts. Wish I could fix things. When I try, I fail. Tonite I am sooo anxious. Will have to take a pill soon.

 

Late this afternoon there was a Midsummer church service at Bethany Lutheran Church. It is all in Swedish. Had a nice crowd. And we sang at least 3 of my fave Swedish hymns. I loved it. My singing Swedish is my best Swedish.
