Blogg 21/06/2012 Pleasant day…

 

 

Weather was great today!!! We actually got 1” of rain last nite. A bunch of small storms all bunched together. I went to bed with thunder, lightning, and rain. Today it never got to 90F. The next 10 days are hot and dry. Hope that changes.

 

I took Elly to Applebee’s for a birthday dinner for her. Good food and better visit. While we were eating a large number of families came in and they all had service dogs with them. The dogs are trained in Concordia KS. The kids are supposed to 13 yrs. old to get a dog but the little boy who sat near us in only 10 yrs. old. Got an order from his doctor. Most of the dogs were labs but two were similar to St. Bernards. They were gorgeous. The little boy next to us had a Border Collie. For more info about the dogs, read here.

 

 

After lunch I did some shopping at Target. They used to have decent clothing but they do not even have a simple pair of black slacks. Why even look there? They have thousands of outfits for teens but not much else.

 

 

I went to Marquette to deliver a new phone to Chris. He was jogging and his phone flew out of his pocket. The whole phone was full of cracks. The slide show above is photos I took there today. And they are all taken with my new iPhone 4S. Takes awesome photos. Even HDR photos. Cool!

Blogg 17/06/2012 Busy times, rain, turning hot…

 

 

Weather has been nice but it is ending. We had 2.5” of rain the last 2 days. Today was 90s and humid. Tomorrow is to be over 100. Ick.

 

I worked extra time on saturday. Lindsborg celebrated Midsommarsdag that day. We were supposed to have dancing on our front lawn, but they got moved elsewhere. We had lots of people come in though. The celebration used to be in one of our parks. And they are both HOT with no air moving even if there is a breeze. And it cost to get in. This year the celebration was downtown. It was free. There were booths and people showing how to do things like make Swedish pancakes. I heard that the crowd was good and many people were going in the shops. Before the downtown was totally left out. I think it was well done and a success.

 

After work I went to Elly’s for her birthday celebration. She had a great crowd. I think 60 showed up. She had it on her deck and yard.

 

Today was Father’s Day here in the US. It was just going to be Willie & I. No family celebration. Sally invited us to join there celebration at the Brookville Hotel for chicken. A nice gathering. We enjoyed it. It must be hard for Willie though. There are those who think he could not care less about being remembered for holidays, etc. but they are wrong. He has talked to me about how much it hurts. Wish I could fix things. When I try, I fail. Tonite I am sooo anxious. Will have to take a pill soon.

 

Late this afternoon there was a Midsummer church service at Bethany Lutheran Church. It is all in Swedish. Had a nice crowd. And we sang at least 3 of my fave Swedish hymns. I loved it. My singing Swedish is my best Swedish.

Blogg 30/04/2012 My weekend in photos…

 

Saturday was the Artist’s Open house in Lindsborg at the Red Barn Studio and 10 other studios in town. I worked from 10am till 530pm.

 

My granddaughter Ashley, her boyfriend Zach, her mom Kim, and her friend Liz stopped to see me. Prom nite. They wanted me to see her all dressed up and to get photos of us together. She looked so beautiful and grown up. I almost cried!

 

Too tired to cook so Arby’s for our evening meal.

 

Sunday Elly and I went to Abilene to eat at the Brookville Hotel. They serve family style fried chicken dinners. Too die for. After eating we drove around Abilene looking at some old homes. Then we took all back roads to Lindsborg.

 

Back in Lindsborg, Elly and I went to the White Peacock and sat outside in their courtyard. Heaven on earth!!! Just perfect!

 

And along the way, I took time to smell the roses. Well, the peonies anyway!

Blogg 19/01/2012 Busy week!!!

Weather is really really cold again. In the teens at nite. I almost roll myself up like a mummy at nite to get warm. But much better than being too warm. Of course, no rain or snow. Nary a chance. Very sad.

Last weekend was really quiet. I had the stomach flu so I stayed home from work. No lunch out on sunday. Everyone was busy elsewhere.

I did watch the Arsenal game over the weekend. A good game but we came up a goal short. Still fun to watch.

Monday was my hair app’t day. Got my hair cut, coloured, and styled. Very nice to be pampered. After my app’t I picked up Beth and we ate BBQ. And talked!! Had a good visit.

Tuesday I went with Elly to the Webster Conference Center for a luncheon given by Bank One. The do the bus tours we go on to see plays in Kansas City. Good food. They told us about the tours for the coming year. There is a Canadian train tour I would kill to go on. But no such luck for me. Far too much money. And a Colorado trip is doable but no one to go with. Sad. Would be fun. We are doing 3 trips this coming year.

Yesterday I spent in Wichita. Shopped at Sephora. Ate at Jason’s Deli. Will eat there much more often. Their food is organic without all the additives the American food is full of. I had Chicken Alfredo. Excellent. Then I saw my diabetic dr. All is well. Then I drove across town to shop at Ulta. It was a disappointment. I love the ones in Denver. The one here was bad. No one greeted me or asked to help. And they had all the cheap brands of stuff I can get at Walgreen’s.

On the way home I stopped at the White Peacock for some peach ginger iced tea and to read a bit. Love it there. The best place ever!

At my dr app’t I told him about my 5 week cough. He said from my symptoms I probably had Whooping Cough. Wow. He said it would have done no good to see my family dr as there is nothing to do buy ride it out.

About food additives. One of the best thing about being in Sweden is all the food is real food. No additives or anything fake. My friends/family there have never heard of HFCS. Amazing. It is in almost everything we eat. And so harmful. Why do we let the food corporations do that to us? And all the imitation flavours instead of the real thing. And MSG. And on and on.
