Weather continues really hot. Always at least 104+. God, help us. Is grass supposed to crunch when one walks on it??

Last week was busy. I went to Wichita to shop and to see my diabetic doctor. I was almost scared to see him. My blood sugars have been so flaky. But. I lost 4 pounds and he made no changes. Thinking I might be fighting a cold or something. And the heat. And the constant stress. It all takes it toll. Also had a mini-class reunion. That was sooo much fun!! There was 20 of us. Oh, for the laughs and memories. Love our times together. They are not my class mates. Most of the friends I had in high school never talked to me once we graduated. These friends are 2 years older and are so much fun. And have adopted me!

Had some sad times lately. Our town had 3 doctors. The hospital board fired one, then a second one resigned. Leaves just one doc and one PA and I have heard the PA may leave. Well, lots of luck replacing them. Who in their right mind takes a job where things are that bad? Then the end of last week a young man around 17 was killed in a car accident. I did not know him but have known his mother for a long time. So, so sad. Nice kid.

Made a new friend a couple of weeks ago and another one last week. Both are very nice and fun and kind. I am blessed. Now some photos. Having way too much fun with my iPhone!!!

Blogg 02/04/2012 Funeral, nap, frenemy, futbol…

 

Weather was just a few degrees cooler today than yesterday. Right now some severe storms to the west and NW of us. Might come our way. Might not. I am voting for not. We do not be able to catch a break.

 

Today was the funeral of a friend’s mother. A small graveside service. Very nice. I was glad I was able to attend. It was in McPherson Kansas. Afterward there was a nice dinner at the First Presbyterian Church. They served a corn beef casserole. That is true comfort food for me. Mom always made it. And so do I. Always at harvest. Our crew has always liked it.

 

Before going home I stopped at the White Peacock in Lindsborg for a zen moment. Needed a quiet time to sit and read. and have some ginger peach ice tea. Then I went home and took a nap.

 

I was considering going to Wichita tomorrow for some retail therapy but have decided not to. I will order what I need. Might ---- MIGHT---- be rainy tomorrow. Planning on a jammie day instead!

 

Tonite I finished the futbol match between Canada and Mexico. What an awesome game!! Mexico scored big time and Canada had no chance. I am so jealous of my friend who was there. Willie has on the KU game now. I am not a KU fan so I do not care who wins. I used to work with some KU fans who were beyond obnoxious. And it did not matter if they won or lost. Awful sportsmanship. That was when I learned to not like KU. Still know a few like that.

 

A former friend decided several years ago to little by little cut me out of her life. For the last several years our friendship has consisted of spending no more than 1 lunch with her a month. She is just toooo busy for anything else. When my parents died, I was lucky to get a card from her. When my best friend died, she blew me off. When we lost our home to fire, she was too busy travelling to offer anything but a humourous card. Now a few months ago she got all bent out of shape that I did not give her enough attention for something. I had a reason, but she refused to listen or meet with me. I guess she cannot understand that just because I am out and about and appear OK that maybe all is not. No one knows what I am going through inside or in my private life. Now I got an email from her that bordered on sarcastic. I sent a pleasant email back. But she replied with one that was meant to hurt and make me feel small. Why do people behave that way? I have decided that I am done. Will ignore any future emails. There will be no communication between us for any reason. For a very long time she always made me feel inferior to her and I should have dropped her then. Now. Done venting.

Blogg 19/01/2012 Busy week!!!

Weather is really really cold again. In the teens at nite. I almost roll myself up like a mummy at nite to get warm. But much better than being too warm. Of course, no rain or snow. Nary a chance. Very sad.

Last weekend was really quiet. I had the stomach flu so I stayed home from work. No lunch out on sunday. Everyone was busy elsewhere.

I did watch the Arsenal game over the weekend. A good game but we came up a goal short. Still fun to watch.

Monday was my hair app’t day. Got my hair cut, coloured, and styled. Very nice to be pampered. After my app’t I picked up Beth and we ate BBQ. And talked!! Had a good visit.

Tuesday I went with Elly to the Webster Conference Center for a luncheon given by Bank One. The do the bus tours we go on to see plays in Kansas City. Good food. They told us about the tours for the coming year. There is a Canadian train tour I would kill to go on. But no such luck for me. Far too much money. And a Colorado trip is doable but no one to go with. Sad. Would be fun. We are doing 3 trips this coming year.

Yesterday I spent in Wichita. Shopped at Sephora. Ate at Jason’s Deli. Will eat there much more often. Their food is organic without all the additives the American food is full of. I had Chicken Alfredo. Excellent. Then I saw my diabetic dr. All is well. Then I drove across town to shop at Ulta. It was a disappointment. I love the ones in Denver. The one here was bad. No one greeted me or asked to help. And they had all the cheap brands of stuff I can get at Walgreen’s.

On the way home I stopped at the White Peacock for some peach ginger iced tea and to read a bit. Love it there. The best place ever!

At my dr app’t I told him about my 5 week cough. He said from my symptoms I probably had Whooping Cough. Wow. He said it would have done no good to see my family dr as there is nothing to do buy ride it out.

About food additives. One of the best thing about being in Sweden is all the food is real food. No additives or anything fake. My friends/family there have never heard of HFCS. Amazing. It is in almost everything we eat. And so harmful. Why do we let the food corporations do that to us? And all the imitation flavours instead of the real thing. And MSG. And on and on.
