Weather - drought continues. There is a burn ban here but a fire almost every day. Today one got very near a small town near here. Could have been tragic. Glad it was not.

I have no energy to blogg. Far too stressed. We are now hauling water to our cattle. There is not enough grass growing so we still have to feed them. Without rain, is there any use to planting wheat this autumn? And the scary thing is, this is probably our new norm. I do not like it.

Blogg 23/07/2012 Last week & photos…

 

Weather continues really hot. Always at least 104+. God, help us. Is grass supposed to crunch when one walks on it??

Last week was busy. I went to Wichita to shop and to see my diabetic doctor. I was almost scared to see him. My blood sugars have been so flaky. But. I lost 4 pounds and he made no changes. Thinking I might be fighting a cold or something. And the heat. And the constant stress. It all takes it toll. Also had a mini-class reunion. That was sooo much fun!! There was 20 of us. Oh, for the laughs and memories. Love our times together. They are not my class mates. Most of the friends I had in high school never talked to me once we graduated. These friends are 2 years older and are so much fun. And have adopted me!

Had some sad times lately. Our town had 3 doctors. The hospital board fired one, then a second one resigned. Leaves just one doc and one PA and I have heard the PA may leave. Well, lots of luck replacing them. Who in their right mind takes a job where things are that bad? Then the end of last week a young man around 17 was killed in a car accident. I did not know him but have known his mother for a long time. So, so sad. Nice kid.

Made a new friend a couple of weeks ago and another one last week. Both are very nice and fun and kind. I am blessed. Now some photos. Having way too much fun with my iPhone!!!

Blogg 14/07/2012 Heat, work and fire…

 

Weather was hot again. Again. It surely gets old. The heat just wears you down. Even if you are inside.

 

Working day today at the Red Barn Studio in Lindsborg. I had hoped for a quiet day. And I got it. Almost too quiet. I almost always like being at work but today was painful. I just really wanted to leave. No idea why. Maybe just tired. No artist in residence until tomorrow. Then Sally Johnson comes back. She used to work at the Red Barn!

 

I stopped at the Smoky Hill Cemetery to visit my friend John's grave. His birthday today. Still so painful. I miss him so much. We did so much together. Now I do lots alone. Seems like every day, get more and more alone. This week I was busy but not all weeks are like that. I eat alone more than I do with someone. If I want to go to a movie or play or art show, it is always alone. And I always travel alone.

 

I had not been home too long when Willie told me to come with him. There was a huge fire and he wanted to see it. Well, we only got to see the smoke. The fire was in the nearby bombing range and it is a restricted area. Appeared to have burned a couple of miles of range. Slide show link below. At the same time there was also a fire at a nearby lake.

Blogg 13/07/2012 Friday the 13th in photos…

 

 

Weather was hot again. Again. Over 100 most of the day. Had Swedish group, lunch at Pizza Hut with 4 of the Five J's, then a road trip to Colby Kansas and back. A long but fun day.

Blogg 12/07/2012 Celebrate…

 

Weather is getting hotter again. And again. Usch. Hit 100F today. For joy. Willie burned the last 2 of our wheat fields. Glad he is done. A big worry for me.

Today was my granddaughter Ashley’s birthday. So I took her and Chris out to lunch. They picked Martinelli’s in Salina. It is a great Italian place. Mmmm. Then we went to the mall. I bought Chris some new shoes and I bought Ashley a new jacket and tank top. I saw several shoes that I wanted but really did not want to pay that much. Will probably go back later and get them!!!

 

Came home and took a short nap. Couldn’t get comfy then Willie came home. Sigh……

 

Busy weekend coming up. Gone all day tomorrow, work day on saturday, and sunday should be ok. Just lunch out. Oh well, better than sitting around.

 

The Cook’s Paint sign above was in my relative’s store. I am related to the Train Bros. They had a furniture store, funeral home, carriage shop, and radio repair shop. Many years ago.
